Itinerary
The tour starts with your pick-up at 08:15 from the Amalia Hotel (Terminal), and the bus departs at 08:30. Enjoy the drive as you leave Athens heading west, passing through Dafni and Elefsina, and following a route with views of the coastline and small beaches.
After a short time, you reach the Corinth Canal, a major engineering achievement from the 1890s. This narrow canal cuts through solid rock, creating a direct connection between the Saronic and Corinthian Gulfs. You will have a short stop here to take photos and enjoy the impressive view from the bridge.
Your next destination is Ancient Corinth, once a wealthy and powerful city. Here, St. Paul lived and taught for a year and a half, and his presence is still remembered today. As you enter the site, you will see the remains of the ancient marketplace (Agora), the Peirene Fountain, various public buildings, and many other structures that reveal how important this city was in the ancient world.
The highlight of your visit is the Temple of Apollo, with its tall Doric columns dating back to the 6th century BC. These columns give a strong image of the city’s glory and make it easy to imagine Ancient Corinth in its golden age.
After exploring the site, you begin your drive back to Athens. On the way, you pass through Kechreai, the ancient harbor where St. Paul arrived in Corinth. Today it is a peaceful seaside area, but in ancient times it was a busy port that connected the city with the eastern Mediterranean.
You return to Athens around 14:30, completing an enjoyable and educational half-day trip.
