Itinerary
Your day begins with a relaxing drive from Athens through the beautiful landscapes of Central Greece. As you leave the city behind, the scenery changes to rolling hills, small traditional villages, and the impressive slopes of Mount Parnassus. In ancient times, Delphi was considered the “Center of the World,” a sacred place where kings, generals, and travelers from across the Mediterranean came to consult the Oracle.
Upon arrival, you will take part in a guided visit of the archaeological site, walking along the Sacred Way, the ancient processional road that led pilgrims to the Sanctuary of Apollo. Along this path, you will see the remains of treasuries dedicated by powerful Greek city-states and learn how these offerings represented wealth, gratitude, and political influence.
At the heart of the site stands the Temple of Apollo, where the Oracle delivered her mysterious prophecies. Your expert guide will explain how these prophecies were given and why they influenced wars, political decisions, and royal destinies across the ancient world.
You will also see the Ancient Theater, where musical and theatrical competitions once took place. The Ancient Stadium can be visited individually during free time for those who wish to walk up to it on their own (not guided and optional).
After the outdoor visit, you will continue with a guided tour inside the Delphi Archaeological Museum, one of the most important museums in Greece. Here you will admire world-famous masterpieces such as:
• The Bronze Charioteer
• The Sphinx of Naxos
• The frieze of the Siphnian Treasury
• Statues, jewelry, tools, and offerings dedicated by ancient pilgrims
Entrance fees to both the archaeological site and the museum are INCLUDED in the tour price.
If you have selected the lunch option, you will enjoy your meal at a local restaurant in Delphi before continuing your journey.
On the way back to Athens, the bus makes a short photo stop in Arachova, a charming mountain village famous for its stone architecture and panoramic views. This is a brief stop for photos only, without free time for shopping or long walks.
After this stop, you will return to Athens in the late afternoon.
